WHAT – Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) will participate in a 1 p.m. fireside panel discussion at the third annual “BreaKING the Ice” Black Men’s Mental Health Conference at Adelphi University on Saturday, April 27.

During the daylong seminar, scholars, and practitioners with expertise in policy development, practice, mental health, prevention, intervention and education will discuss the key challenges facing Black men in the pursuit of mental health care. Dr. Anthony Estreet, CEO of the National Association of Social Workers, is the event’s plenary speaker.

“Mental health services have placed so many men onto a path to greater happiness and more fulfilling lives, and it is vital for leaders to do all we can to dispel the stigmas that are far too often associated with this crucial form of self-care,” Legislator Solages said. “I am proud to be part of an event like the ‘BreaKING the Ice” Black Men’s Mental Health Conference, which does so much to break down barriers and end harmful stigmas in our society.”

“BreaKING the Ice” is presented by the Adelphi School of Social Work and Modify Wellness, Inc. and sponsored by the Wishnick Lecture in Human Services.

WHEN – 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 27. Legislator Solages will speak on a 1 p.m. panel.
