Legislator Giangregorio and County Executive Blakeman Announce Support of Early Childhood Education Providers
Mineola, NY – Today marked a historic moment as Nassau County Legislator Michael Giangregorio joined together with County Executive Blakeman, Legislator Mazi Melesa Pilip and Legislator Samantha A. Goetz to announce a significant pay increase for Childhood Intervention Service Providers. This initiative marks the first pay raise in over 25 years for these essential workers.
The decision entails a 25% pay increase, elevating their compensation from $40 to $50 per half-hour. These dedicated providers offer critical preschool services such as speech, occupational, and physical therapy, supporting children with special needs aged 3 to 5 in their preparation for kindergarten.
“For too long, the wages of these dedicated professionals have not reflected the true value of their work,” Giangregorio stated. “Every child deserves access to high-quality early childhood education, and we recognize that it starts with ensuring that our providers are valued and supported.”
