Mineola, NY—On Monday, April 15th, Legislator Michael Giangregorio honored Jayda Levine, a John F. Kennedy High School Junior and member of the Community Leadership Program. The presentation happened during a full meeting of the Nassau County Legislature.
Jayda created a civic project called ASD on Ice, which allows children on the autism spectrum to have the opportunity to skate in safe and controlled environments. Jayda’s project also raised $3,000 for the Eden II Programs, which are a nonprofit organization dedicated to schooling individuals on the autism spectrum.
“Jayda Levine is an honor roll student, who demonstrates great academic excellence and a commitment to learning. Her support of people with autism and her ASD on ICE project show her great compassion and leadership,” Legislator Giangregorio said. “But her accomplishments go well beyond that. This accomplishment is a positive force of inclusivity and dedication that will help all people in the autism community and create many moments of joy, friendship, and empowerment. She has led the way for others to help, and I am very impressed by her. I am thrilled to honor such an inspiration at the Nassau County legislature.”
