Nassau County Legislator Mazi Melesa Pilip and Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jennifer S. DeSena are sponsoring the NuHealth/Nassau University Medical Center Mobile Mammography Van to visit our neighborhood to provide breast cancer screenings for women over age forty. The screening will include a breast examination by a nurse, a mammography and instructions for breast self-examination at home.
If it’s been at least a year since your last mammography and you are planning to receive an exam, patients with insurance must bring a referral/prescription for the exam from their doctor (If you do not bring a referral/prescription, you cannot be seen). Patients must also provide any past exam films if they are available. Women with health insurance will be required to make a co-payment. The mammography is free for uninsured women, based on eligibility guidelines.
Appointments are required and are scheduled on a First Come, First Served Basis
