(OYSTER BAY, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator recently joined with Life’s Angels at The Mansion at Oyster Bay for their sixth annual No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em Charity Poker Tournament.
Founded in 2017 by a group of recreational poker players, Life’s Angels is a nonprofit organization that seeks to make a positive impact for people who have been “dealt a tough hand in life.” Life’s Angels raises money through a series of charity poker tournaments and other fundraisers that culminate with their annual Texas Hold ‘Em event.
All told, these charitable card sharks raised more than $100,000 at the event – resources which will be applied toward helping local community members who are struggling with health, education, and family issues. Through various initiatives, Life’s Angels sponsors summer camps and school tuition for kids in need, supports local food banks and toy drives, establishes endowments for local causes, and more. In recognition of their efforts, Legislator Lafazan presented each of the Life’s Angels board members with Nassau County Legislature Citations.
“For the last six years, this group of poker enthusiasts have made a tremendously positive impact upon the lives of deserving families in our community who needed a helping hand in their hour of need,” Legislator Lafazan said. “I commend Life’s Angels for their tireless efforts and would especially like to thank my friend Jeff ‘the Poker Minion’ Schwartz for inviting me to this innovative and impactful event.”
