Dear Resident,
I wanted to share two important items of interest:
1. The Nassau County Human Rights Commission, in conjunction with Nassau Community College (NCC), will be hosting an Employment Expo this Friday, November 18, 2022. There are a variety of different positions available so anyone attending is encouraged to bring their CV/resume and drivers should bring their abstract. The expo will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the NCC Field House at 1 Education Drive in Garden City. Early entrance will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. specifically for seniors, veterans and the physically challenged. See the flyer below for more information or call the Nassau County Human Rights Commission at 516-571-5955.
2. Due to rising costs for groceries and pretty much everything else, the Nassau County Legislative Majority is once again partnering with Island Harvest to host a virtual food drive to help Long Islanders in need. This drive will allow people to shop online for items on the Island Harvest website. Each item they select and donate will then help a Long Island resident who is facing food insecurity thereby giving them the ability to celebrate the upcoming holidays, including having a warm and festive Thanksgiving meal.
The drive runs until December 30th. Anyone interested can participate through this link: https://yougivegoods.com/nassau-county-legislative-majority
As always, please feel free to contact me with any thoughts and ideas you may have with respect to the County or on any particular issue that you think I may be able to assist you with. You may contact me at (516) 571-6214 or by email at LSchaefer@NassauCountyNY.gov
Sincerely,
Laura M. Schaefer
Legislator, District 14
