(LAKEVIEW, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Siela A. Bynoe (D - Westbury) supported the newly formed Lakeview Civic Association’s inaugural Earth Day community cleanup event on Saturday, April 30. After clearing litter from the Lakeview LIRR station and Harold Walker Park, volunteers gave the community a beautiful splash of springtime color by planting flowers.
Legislator Bynoe supported the Civic Association’s efforts by providing essential supplies that were utilized to prepare the train station and park for planting flowers and other perennials.
“The success of this community cleanup and the formation of this civic association are two wonderful examples of Lakeview’s blossoming civic pride and engagement,” Legislator Bynoe said. “It was a pleasure to join with Aisha, Lisa and so many dedicated community volunteers as they rolled up their sleeves to give the community some richly deserved springtime TLC. I look forward to partnering with the Lakeview Civic Association on future initiatives that will benefit this historic hamlet.”
“Legislator Bynoe, who consistently answers our call to engage with the Lakeview community, partnered with us again and supported our efforts by donating tons of materials for us to clean the area to ensure it was ready for the planting of perennial plants at the Lakeview railroad station,” Lakeview Civic Association member Aisha Demosthenes said. “Many Lakeview families participated in what we’re aiming to be an annual event. We’re thankful to all who supported us in our efforts to make Lakeview a clean and aesthetically pleasing environment to live in.”
