(GREAT NECK, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D - Great Neck) secured $25,000 in funding through the Hotel-Motel Tax Grant Program for the Lake Success-based Public Access Television Corporation (PATV) on Monday, Dec. 17.
PATV will utilize the funds to purchase new equipment. The not-for-profit organization, which was launched in 1984, reaches audiences in Great Neck and other nearby North Shore communities. Its mission is to promote and produce television programming of an educational, literary, cultural, and civic nature. PATV aims to heighten community awareness and increase community participation through the making and viewing of local television, and to encourage programming to reflect the concerns, interests and activities of the communities it serves.
“For decades, PATV has enriched viewers’ lives and expanded their horizons by creating award-winning programming and reporting on important cultural events hosted by Nassau County and other community stakeholders,” Legislator Birnbaum said. “I am pleased to continue to support PATV in its ongoing mission of delivering its signature form of enlightening content to the public.”
“The Public Access Television Corporation is thrilled to be one of the recipients of the Nassau County Hotel/Motel Proceeds Grant. Funding from this grant will allow us to continue to serve and support our residents and local organizations,” said Erica Bradley, Executive Director of PATV. “We are especially grateful to Legislator Birnbaum for her unwavering support of our organization and the community.”
