PRESIDING OFFICER NICOLELLO SUPPORTS U. S. MARINES CORPS TOYS FOR TOTS PROGRAM
Nassau County Presiding Officer Richard Nicolello joined with Major Chuck Kilbride and the United State Marine Corps to participate in the Marines’ annual Toys for Tots Program. Members of the Nassau County Legislature each donated a new, unwrapped toy that will be distributed to disadvantaged children throughout Long Island.
The Long Island Toys for Tots program was created in 1947 by United States Marine Corps to assist the orphans of World War II soldiers. For over twenty-seven years, Major Chuck Kilbride has overseen the Toys for Tots operation in Nassau County. Last year, with the help of over thirty-eight Marines and members of the Nassau County Police Department and Volunteer Fire Departments, over a half a million toys were distributed to children throughout Nassau County.
