Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum Attends Nassau County’s
POW/MIA Recognition Ceremony at Eisenhower Park
(EAST MEADOW, N.Y.) – Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D – Great Neck) participated in Nassau County’s eighth annual POW/MIA Recognition Ceremony at Eisenhower Park on Thursday, Sept. 6.
During the observance, which was presented by Nassau County Executive Laura Curran and Nassau County Veterans Services Director Ralph Esposito, Legislator Birnbaum was one of several Legislators asked to read the names of missing-in-action soldiers.
After the ceremony during an annual picnic for local veterans, Legislator Birnbaum had the opportunity to thank Nassau County’s veterans for their service.
“Every day, Americans who enlist to serve in the armed forces distinguish themselves with their valor, courage and selflessness. Having the opportunity to recognize these patriots, honor those who became prisoners of war during their service and pay tribute to our neighbors who never returned from battle was a truly humbling experience,” Legislator Birnbaum said.
