(MINEOLA, NY) –Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D-Great Neck) and the Nassau County Police Department will greet the public during National Night Out on August 7, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Jonathan L. Ielpi Firefighters’ Park located on Grace Avenue in the Village of Great Neck Plaza. National Night Out, which in New York State is held annually on the first Tuesday of August, is a community-building initiative that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live.

The event is an opportunity to meet Legislator Birnbaum as well as members of the Nassau County Police Department who will distribute public safety related materials for various age groups. At 8:00 p.m., as part of the Village of Great Neck Plaza’s Summer Concert Series, Dr. Pamela Levy will lead performers in a concert entitled “Opera Under the Stars.” “I am proud to promote National Night Out which is an important event that helps to strengthen the bonds between the Nassau County Police Department and the members of the public who they proudly serve,” said Legislator Birnbaum.
