(MINEOLA, NY) –Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum (D-Great Neck) is pleased to announce that courtesy of Nassau University Medical Center, a mammography van will once again be present in our community. Women over 40 years of age may be eligible for free mammograms. The van will be located in front of the Great Neck Social Center at 80 Grace Avenue in Great Neck on June 14, 2017 from 8:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The mammography van will also be in the parking lot of Clinton G. Martin Park located at 1601 Marcus Avenue in New Hyde Park on August 2, 2017 from 8:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Women who do not have health insurance, may be eligible for the Nassau Cancer Screening Program and they will not be charged for this service. If you have health insurance you must bring a prescription for the mammogram from your doctor as well as your insurance card. The screening will include a breast examination by a nurse, a mammography, and instructions for breast self-examination. Appointments are required for mammograms.
