Heroin use has become an epidemic in Nassau County and the County has been working hard to help residents fight this scourge. Recently, another deadly drug called Fentanyl/Carfentanil, which is stronger than heroin, has entered Nassau County and is having devastating effects on addicts.
Join Legislator Laura Schaefer and representatives from the Nassau County Police Department and its Narcotics Vice Bureau to learn about the L.I. Heroin Task Force, the arrests associated with it and other enforcement issues. Representatives will also provide information about NARCAN, an overdose prevention agent, and will be available to talk about drug addiction, prevention and education.
Additionally, a representative from the District Attorney’s Office will speak about their “Stop Gap Program” designed to assist individuals who overdose, then are released from the hospital and in need of treatment.
