At its 19th Annual “Womenof Distinction Awards”, the Nassau County Legislature and Deputy PresidingOfficer Rich Nicolello honored Manhasset native Mary Kay Barket, as a woman ofremarkable achievement.
Mary Kay and her husband Brucereside in Manhasset where they are raising four beautiful children, Katie,Elizabeth, Charlie, and Maggie, ages 11 to 4. Mary Kay has worked in theinsurance/reinsurance industry for over 25 years, and founded her ownconsulting company, “MK Risk Solutions” in 2006.
Aside from balancing work andfamily, Mary Kay is involved with a number of charitable organizations. Sheserves on the board of directors for the Association for Children with DownSyndrome and the Matthew Foundation, which is dedicated to improving the livesof persons with Down Syndrome. She is also on the Executive Board of the IHMLeague at Our Lady of Grace School and is a member of the Friends Committee forthe Sisters of Life. She chairs an annual fundraiser for Good Counsel Homes, anorganization dedicated to providing housing and education for mothers andbabies. Mary Kay is also a member of the St. Mary’s Rosary society and activelysupports Best Buddies International.
Legislator Nicolello stated:“Mary Kay is a perfect example of a woman who balances a professional life witha dedication to worthy causes and a tireless commitment to her family. She is arole model for all, most especially young women who wonder if they can have afamily and pursue their professional ambitions.”
