Nassau County Legislator Laura M. Schaefer joined with Presiding Officer Norma Gonsalves, Stop and Shop Supermarket Co., students from Long Island Lutheran Middle School and the Solomon Schechter School, and leaders of the Jewish community to donate nearly 1,000 pounds of kosher food to a local food pantry. The donations, which include matzo, grape juice, farfel, and gefilte fish, will help families in need during Passover.
Representatives were present from the Alix Rubinger Kosher Food Pantry, an all-volunteer organization run by Congregation Beth-El in Massapequa, to collect and distribute the food.
