Nassau County Department of Health Lifts Boil Water Order for Affected Consumers

Nassau County, NY – Nassau County Department of Health has lifted the Boil Water Order for customers of Liberty New York Water System in Baldwin, Island Park, Oceanside, Roosevelt, and South Hempstead. This follows the successful repair of the 20-inch water main on Winona Avenue in Oceanside, the return of normal water pressure, and the collection of two sets of 10 water samples on June 7 and June 8, 2024 that were free from bacterial contamination.

Residents in these communities no longer need to boil their water before use. Although the water samples results showed no bacterial contamination, it is recommended to run all faucets for at least 3 to 5 minutes before using the water due to the previous low pressure. For health care facilities, commercial buildings with multiple stories, and apartment buildings, it is advised to flush all faucets for 10 to 15 minutes before use.

For further information, please call Liberty New York Water at 877-426-6999 or the Nassau County Department of Health at 516-227-9692 (after hours or weekends 516-742-6154).
