(MINEOLA, N.Y.) - On Thursday, April 7, 2022, the United States Senate voted 53-47 to approve Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court, making her the first Black woman to be appointed to the nation’s highest court. Following the vote, Nassau County Legislator Siela A. Bynoe (D - Westbury) issued the following statement:
