Mission Statement
In order to advance public policy, procedures and services which ensure equity, opportunity and access for all persons with disabilities, the Nassau County Advisory Council on People with Disabilities will provide guidance to the County Executive and the Legislature on a broad range of matters related to County services, operations and governance. Members of the Council will apply their combined personal and professional expertise to the tasks of:
- Recommending legislation, funding priorities and projects and programs designed with the intent to ensure full integration of all people with disabilities in economic, civic, and community life.
- Identifying barriers to equity, opportunity, and access within County policies, procedures, and programs and presenting proposals to eliminate such barriers.
- Consulting with County officials and lawmakers from a solutions-based perspective on matters which impact the community of people with disabilities
Our goal is to inform the disabled population of the progress we are making to improve lives. We also would like feedback to ensure we are doing our best to address as many needs as we can.
