David Goodsell has been a Nassau County District Court Judge since 2008. He was reelected in 2013 and was named Presiding Judge of the Nassau County Veterans Treatment Court in 2017. He began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Kings County (Brooklyn) NY, prosecuting felonies in the Major Offense Bureau. During a 25-year career in private law practice, he worked primarily as a trial attorney, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in tort and commercial matters; engaged in the practice of real estate and trust and estate law; and gained exposure to matrimonial and guardianship matters. He has also been heavily involved in community service, as a trustee of the Herricks School District; as a member of the Town of North Hempstead Board of Zoning Appeals; as Chairman of the Island Harvest Advisory Board; as a Trustee of the Herricks Community Fund; as a member of the Town of North Hempstead Community Development Board; and as President of the Greater New Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce. He received an A.B. from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and his J.D. from St. John's University School of Law.
