Nassau County, NY – Nassau County Executive Laura Curran is kicking off a series of Millennial Chats starting with a Latino Millennial Chat on October 16 at 6 p.m. in the Ceremonial Chambers at the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building. The event is co-hosted by County Executive Curran and the Office of Hispanic Affairs.
The Latino Millennial Chat will focus on important issues facing Latinos in Nassau County including affordability, workforce development, housing and immigration. The discussion with the County Executive and Office of Hispanic Affairs Executive Director Amy Flores will allow young residents to share ideas, troubleshoot problems and brainstorm solutions. “Let’s engage the younger generation and find out what we need to do to encourage them to live, work, and play in Nassau County. The Millennial Chat Series will give young people a chance to be part of the dialogue, and to help us brainstorm on important issues like affordability and transit-oriented development,” said Nassau County Executive Laura Curran.
“This series of conversations with millennials will cover important topics that are directly affecting this generation – especially economic development, mobility and our efforts to keep our young people here in Nassau County,” said Deputy County Executive for Economic Development Evlyn Tsimis.
“Latino millennials continue to grow and play an important role in the future of Nassau County. As a Latina millennial myself, I believe it is important for us to have these conversations that will connect our culture, strong work ethic, our struggles and successes to help navigate the real issues Latino millennials are facing in Nassau County. This event is a great opportunity to foster participation with our millennials, broaden our thinking and gain a better perspective of what is impacting the Latino community. We encourage millennials to engage in our event in efforts of strengthening our collaborative efforts and providing continued support to best help meet their needs,” said Office of Hispanic Affairs Executive Director Amy Flores
Additional events in the series will include mobility, transit-oriented development, environment and the Census. Each chat will allow participants a one on one platform with the Nassau County Executive and relevant department heads and the ability to have an open and collaborative dialogue.
The Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building is located at 1550 Franklin Avenue, Mineola.
