“The Majority Caucus of the Legislature has been determined to give residents a strong voice during the reassessment process. One step we took was to put a referendum up in November that allowed residents to choose if they wanted an elected or appointed assessor. Unfortunately, the County Executive and Minority Caucus has decided to not allow residents to have that choice, and have protected politically appointed assessor David Moog. He has refused to hold any public town hall meetings and will not answer questions on the process. Despite today’s vote, I will continue to fight for the taxpayers of Nassau County and continue to push for further accountability and transparency.”
