"The Curran Administration has taken unprecedented steps to ensure inclusivity for all communities in Nassau's government, and yesterday’s votes in the Legislature represent another set of historic moves towards that goal.

County Executive Curran is delighted that her nominee Farrah Mozawalla, who has done outstanding work launching a platform for engagement with the Asian American community, has been confirmed as the permanent Executive Director for the new Office of Asian American Affairs. The County Executive is also pleased that the Legislature has confirmed a slate of qualified nominees to serve on the new Advisory Council.

The Legislature yesterday also approved County Executive Curran’s request to change the name of the Coordinating Agency for Spanish Americans (commonly known as CASA) to the Office of Hispanic Affairs. As part of her Administration’s continued efforts to promote inclusivity and cultural competence, by June Nassau County will have moved the agency to a new office more welcoming to our Hispanic community members. This comes after the previous Administration relegated CASA (now the Office of Hispanic Affairs) to a decrepit County basement.”
