“I was proud to host the first Nassau County Art and Photography Exhibition featuring some of the most talented artists in the Country,” Comptroller Maragos said. “The Exhibition was an unbelievably huge success with standing room only demonstrating the huge potential for our local artists. The credit for the remarkable success, however, belongs to Jill Rader Levine who worked tirelessly with my staff to achieve this feat. I am committed to making the Exhibition an annual event as a way to promote our local artists and spur further growth in our local film and art industry.”
"As curator of "Women Of The World" it was an amazing artventure for me to set out on a quest to locate and invite fifty outstanding women artists from every corner of Long Island to showcase their individual style,” Curator Jill Rader Levine (Member: Society of Professional Journalists, Long Island Press Club, National League of American Pen Women - MA Master of Visual Arts.) “The results of their creativity in expressing the theme of the feminine mystique in the medium of their choice are brilliant - fifty unique images that will leave a memorable impression on all who attended this event."
The event included a panel of distinguished judges who evaluated each piece based upon focusing on the criteria of the "Wow" factor, expression of the theme, creativity and expertise in their chosen medium. There were three awards in each of the two divisions - a total of six. Prizes were awarded in each category for Fine Art and Photography.
