West Hempstead, NY – To ‘rein in’ support for the Camp A.N.C.H.O.R. Program Fund which began offering equine therapy for the campers last year, County Executive Curran, Supervisor Gillen, and Councilwoman King Sweeney launched the ticket code “ANCHOR” for the upcoming Longines Masters of New York equestrian event that will benefit the camp’s not-for-profit programming.
By using this link or the code “ANCHOR” at the box office, when purchasing tickets to the Longlines Masters event coming to NYCB LIVE’s Nassau Coliseum from April 25-28, a portion of the proceeds from the sale will benefit the Camp A.N.C.H.O.R. Program Fund which provides activities for local children and adults with disabilities, year-round. The camp’s not-for-profit equine therapy program runs in partnership with the New York Equestrian Center.
At the press conference to launch the ticket code, the Elected Officials were joined by camp goers, New York Equestrian Center horses, Nick Vaerewyck, VP of Programming for NYCB LIVE, and John Dolan, Executive Director of Longines Masters Americas/EEM.
“I am thrilled that Longines Masters is bringing the equestrian sport and this extraordinary showcase of horses and Olympic-caliber athletes to the Nassau Coliseum for the second consecutive year. Nassau County has a rich history in horseback riding, with stables offering riding lessons and plenty of bridle paths through woodlands and even beaches to explore,” said County Executive Curran. “Horses are for everyone - I encourage our residents to take advantage and experience the beauty of riding while supporting a wonderful local charity. I applaud Camp A.N.C.H.O.R. staff for their ongoing work to provide unique activities and therapy for our residents with disabilities.”
“We are grateful for this generous donation to fund the equine therapy program at Camp ANCHOR,” said Hempstead Town Supervisor Laura Gillen. “Upon taking office, it was a priority not only to see the ANCHOR program continue to thrive, but also to make additional programs available to even more families than we currently serve. This amazing program, which we began last year, will now hopefully have the resources to continue serving hundreds of children and residents with disabilities every summer for years to come.”
“We are thrilled to collaborate with leadership from Nassau County, the Town of Hempstead, and our partners at Longines Masters to give back to the local community through this collaborative fundraising effort to benefit Camp A.N.C.H.O.R.,” said Nick Vaerewyck, VP of Programming for NYCB LIVE. “As one of the most unique events we have hosted at NYCB LIVE, the Longines Masters will bring guests the opportunity to experience some of the most highly ranked riders in the world while making contributions to deserving organizations right here on Long Island.”
“As an avid rider myself, this is a program that I feel very passionate about and I am so grateful to all the parties that are working with us to allow even more Camp ANCHOR participants to benefit from their interaction with the horses," said Councilwoman Erin King Sweeney. "I also hope that our residents will take full advantage of their opportunity to enjoy unparalleled show jumping, family entertainment, live music, unique artwork, culinary delights and more!”
“As we prepare for EEM’s return to New York for the second edition of the Longines Masters of New York at NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on April 25-28, I am incredibly grateful for the local Long Island community support and the partnership of local elected officials such as County Executive Curran, Councilwoman King Sweeney and Supervisor Gillen,” said Christophe Ameeuw, Founder and CEO of EEM. “Along with heart-pounding support and unparalleled entertainment, philanthropy is a core pillar of the international Longines Masters Series in Paris, Hong Kong and New York, and we are proud to support Camp A.N.C.H.O.R.’s equine therapy program for children and adults with disabilities.”
