Legislator Steve Rhoads is co-sponsoring the Bring Vets2Vets Program along with Legislators Laura Schaefer, John R. Ferretti and C. William Gaylor III, Paws of War and the Hempstead Town Board to provide veterinary care for the pets of veterans and first responders living with disabilities.
Paws of War will be bringing their mobile veterinary unit to Newbridge Road Park in Bellmore to provide veterinary care at no cost to our heroes. This newly-renovated vehicle has been customized to fit the needs of this specialized program, and will be staffed by veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and assistants.
Appointments are required for this event. Call 631-FOR-PAWS in advance to schedule an appointment and please provide military or first responder ID.
VETS2VETS WILL PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING VETERINARY SERVICES, AT NO COST TO OUR HEROES:
- Annual exams
- Annual vaccinations
- Dental checks
- FIV/FeLV testing for felines
- Flea and tick preventative care
- Grooming and nail clipping
- Heartworm testing for canines
- Heartworm preventative care
- Microchipping services
