MINEOLA, NY – The Office of the Nassau County Comptroller will host a Black History Month Community Empowerment Event on Tuesday, February 13, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., at Union Baptist Church of Hempstead.
“The Comptroller’s Office can do more for everyone in Nassau County, and that includes taking opportunities to improve residents’ access to useful information like minority and women business enterprise (MWBE) training, financial literacy, and college planning,” Schnirman said. “My office is excited to host an event that connects residents with community leaders, representatives from higher education, and financial advisors.”
Comptroller Jack Schnirman, Chief Deputy Comptroller Shari James, and Rev. Dr. Sedgwick V. Easley of Union Baptist Church will deliver opening remarks at the event. The event will also feature a performance by the Uniondale High School Show Choir.
“The Union Baptist Church is proud to work with Nassau County Comptroller Jack Schnirman and his Office to inform and empower our communities,” Rev. Dr. Sedgwick V. Easley said. “We all have to work together to provide opportunities for minority-owned businesses and access to higher education.”
College admissions counselors, financial advisors, community leaders, and staff from the Nassau County Office of Minority Affairs and Office of the New York State Comptroller will have informational booths set up at the event to answer questions and provide assistance.
