MINEOLA, N.Y. – Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced that Wilfred Labossiere, 33, of Far Rockaway, was found guilty on all counts by a jury today for a 2012 shooting in Elmont that left a man dead and a grandmother seriously injured. After deliberating for eight hours, a jury found Labossiere guilty of Murder in the 2nd Degree (an A felony), Assault in the 1st Degree (a B felony), and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree (a C felony). He faces a minimum of 15 years to life in prison and a maximum of 25 years to life in prison for his conviction on the top charge. Labossiere is due back in court for sentencing before Nassau County Court Judge Philip Grella on May 1.
“While nothing can undo the pain caused by Mr. Labossiere, today’s guilty verdict gives a measure of justice for his victims' loved ones, and ensures that this defendant will be held accountable for his crimes,” DA Rice said.
Labossiere was arrested on Nov. 26, 2012 in connection with the shooting in Elmont earlier that day that left Christopher Mullings, 29, dead of a gunshot wound and a 51-year-old grandmother seriously injured.
Assistant District Attorney Martin Meaney of DA Rice’s Major Offense Bureau is prosecuting the case. Labossiere is represented by Anthony Grandinetti, Esq.
