STATEMENT OF NASSAU COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY MADELINE SINGAS REGARDING GOVERNOR CUOMO’S PROPOSED EXPANSION
OF NEW YORK’S HATE CRIME LAW
“The violence, bigotry and hate that led to the murder of an innocent young woman in Charlottesville is intolerable, and I commend Governor Cuomo for proposing the expansion of New York’s hate crimes statute to include inciting to riot and rioting that targets a protected class of people. White supremacists, Nazis, and the KKK are despicable and law enforcement stands united, ready to stop and aggressively prosecute any hate-motivated crimes in Nassau County."
