“People all across New York State were heartbroken by the death of eight-year old Charlotte McCue while she was riding with her family in her grandfather's boat on Lake George last July. Today’s manslaughter verdict is a tribute to the hard work of the Warren County prosecutors and members of law enforcement who did everything possible to bring justice to the McCue family. This tragic case places a spotlight on New York's horribly deficient BWI and Hit and Run laws and I will be joining DA Kate Hogan in the coming weeks to urge the legislature to fix the numerous loopholes in our BWI laws which allow offenders to evade justice when they flee the scene. We hope this tragic case will move the state legislature to act this session.”
