[ARCHIVED] Long Beach Man Pleads Guilty for Fatal Shooting Near Public Housing Project

Antonio Webb, 24, faces 20 years in prison for the crime

MINEOLA, N.Y. – Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas announced that a Long Beach man who fatally shot another man at a party in September 2014 pleaded guilty yesterday to manslaughter charges.

Antonio Webb, 24, pleaded guilty in front of Acting Supreme Court Justice Teresa Corrigan to Manslaughter in the 1st Degree (a B violent felony) and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree (a C violent felony). The defendant, who pleaded guilty during trial, is due back in court on May 17 for sentencing. Webb faces 20 years in prison.

“This defendant recklessly shot into a crowd of people and stole the life of an innocent 28-year old,” DA Singas said. “We hope this plea will help the family of Tyenzo Brown as they grieve the senseless murder of this young man.”

DA Singas said that on September 27, 2014, at approximately 12:40 a.m., a group of people were gathered at a tattoo party at the Channel Park Homes near 5 Birch Court in Long Beach. After an altercation between two other men, Webb, armed with a pistol, fired several times into the group.

The defendant shot 28-year-old Tyrenzo Brown multiple times and the victim was taken to South Nassau Communities Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from the gunshot wounds.

The shooting was the result of a dispute between Webb and a friend of the victim over a woman.

Webb fled the scene and was arrested several days later by members of the Nassau County Police Department on October 1, 2014.

Assistant District Attorney Martin Meaney of DA Singas’ Major Offense Bureau is prosecuting the case. Webb is represented by Jeff Groder, Esq.
