Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano, Nassau County Presiding Officer Norma Gonsalves and members of the Nassau County Legislature honored Department of Social Services (DSS) Volunteers for their many years of service to the neediest children and families of Nassau County. The DSS Volunteers organization, founded in 1983, provides a wide range of services including providing Thanksgiving meals, food drives, Holiday Parties for Foster Care children and their families, the Adopt a Family program, Dress for Success and a Summer Camp Program, just to name a few.
“These dedicated women and men have given years of volunteer services for a cause they truly believe in and support. Nassau County is indeed grateful for their unsparing caring and dedication,” said County Executive Mangano.
“I congratulate each and every one of these volunteers for their selfless dedication to people in need in Nassau County. I am honored to recognize them,” said Presiding Officer Norma L. Gonsalves.
DSS Director of Volunteers Lynne Campbell added, ‘I am so proud to have an army of volunteers who, for more than 30 years have given so much of their time to helping the neediest of our county’s children and families.”
