[ARCHIVED] LEGISLATOR RHOADS ATTENDS GROUNDBREAKING OF FREEPORT BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT

Nassau County Legislator Steve Rhoads recently attended a ground breaking ceremony to launch a new multi-million dollar revitalization and beautification project for the North Main Street corridor in Freeport.

This $3.9 million project includes new sidewalks, light poles to illuminate both sides of North Main Street, decorative fixture arms, high efficiency LED lighting, as well as brand-new benches, waste receptacles, landscaping, and pedestrian "bump-outs" at intersections and other significant improvements.

“These improvements are just the latest step in what has been an amazing renaissance in Freeport thanks to the leadership of Mayor Robert Kennedy and the Village Board in partnership with Nassau County. By working together, this project will not only make North Main Street more inviting, but will improve safety and I am looking forward to more great things to come,” said Legislator Rhoads. “I’d like to thank County Executive Mangano for his invaluable contributions in making this project a reality.”
