Mineola, NY - Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos is pleased to announce that Michael A. Scotto will join his staff on July 20 as Deputy Comptroller for Audits and Investigations. Mr. Scotto brings a distinguished career in public service of over twenty years as Assistant District Attorney in the office of the New York County District Attorney. Mr. Scotto has extensive experience in investigating and prosecuting public corruption, fraud in the construction industry, bid rigging, organized crime and theft of public money. As Chief of the Rackets Bureau and the Construction Industry Strike Force he was involved in numerous joint investigations with the NYC and NYS Comptrollers Offices rooting out municipal fraud.
“I am delighted that Mr. Scotto has accepted to assume the position Deputy Comptroller of Audits and Investigations,” said Comptroller George Maragos. “His extensive experience investigating and prosecuting public corruption makes him well prepared to lead the Comptroller’s Audit Division with its expanded mandate to investigate fraud and waste.”
Mr. Scotto holds a Bachelors of Arts degree from New York University, and a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School.
