Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano and County Legislator Denise Ford announced that a new Pitch and Putt at Nickerson Beach is now open.
County Executive Mangano stated, “The picturesque, seaside Pitch and Putt, created amongst the dunes of Nickerson Beach includes nine holes ranging in length from 47 to 105 yards. Visitors can now enjoy a short round of golf next to one of the best beaches on Long Island.”
“Nickerson Beach is a fantastic resource that thousands of Nassau County residents are able to use. This wonderful new golf facility will provide even more fun for families,” added Legislator Denise Ford.
The Nickerson Beach Pitch and Putt will be open 7 days a week from 8:00 a.m. until dusk. The prices are as follows: resident with a leisure pass: $7, non-resident: $10, children 13 and under and seniors: $5. Club rental is $1 per club and balls are $1 per ball. Visitors also must pay for entrance into Nickerson Beach (from Memorial Day to Labor Day). Resident with leisure pass: $10.00, non-leisure pass holders: $30.00.
Mangano commended the work done by members of Local 830 who worked on the landscape of the course under the direction of the designers. The union members salvaged wood from the old boardwalk and the recycled pieces were used again in the current design.
