Legislator Denise Ford helped the Long Beach Fire Department along with the City of Long Beach enter into an Inter-Municipal Agreement with Nassau County to provide funding for the portable hydraulic recue tool, also known as the “Jaws of Life” this tool is most frequently used to free victims in automobile accidents. It can also be used to rescue someone in a collapsed structure.
This potentially lifesaving instrument will be attached to a rescue engine, providing for maximum response time.
“I’m pleased that the brave men and women of the Long Beach Fire Department will be able to utilize another tool as they keep our community safe.” Said Mrs. Ford.
