Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos announced the selection of McGladrey LLP, as the County’s new independent auditors. The County’s contract with their previous independent auditors, Deloitte and Touche, LLP expired earlier this year, which required the County to issue an RFP for audit services. Deloitte has served the County as its independent auditors since 1998.
“We thank Deloitte for their many years of professional service,” said Comptroller George Maragos. “McGladrey is a major, well-regarded accounting firm that will bring a fresh perspective to the County.”
The County’s independent auditors express an opinion on whether the County’s financial statements are presented fairly and in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States. They also report on the County’s internal financial controls and on compliance with laws, regulations, contracts, and grant agreements, and the County’s compliance with requirements applicable to Federal programs.
