Legislators Gaylor and Giuffre Debut New Traffic Signal on Woodfield Road in West Hempstead
West Hempstead, NY – Woodfield Road in West Hempstead has been the scene of numerous traffic accidents over the last few years, that have caused the deaths and injuries of many people, including a senior citizen and two children. Previously, Legislators Bill Gaylor and John Giuffré called for the installation of a traffic signal on the corner of Woodfield Road and Linden Street/Lindberg Street.
This week, Legislators Bill Gaylor and John Giuffré announced the completed installation of the traffic signal on the corner of Woodfield Road at the Lindberg Street/Linden Street intersection. This signal will help control traffic and allow safer passage by pedestrians crossing the street, including children walking to school, and people walking to religious institutions and businesses. The traffic signal will help mitigate the dangerousness of the bend in Woodfield Road that has confused some drivers.
“The safety of our citizens is my highest priority,” Legislator Bill Gaylor said. “The people of West Hempstead have been very vocal about the dangerousness of this roadway, and I was very happy that I could work with Legislator Giuffré to make sure this traffic signal was installed in a timely manner. I hope residents feel a little bit safer while crossing at this intersection.”
