Nassau County Legislator John Giuffré joined with Island Harvest and PSEG Long Island at their warehouse in Melville to announce the results of their massively successful Power to Feed Long Island Food Drive. The original goal was for 30,000 meals to be collected, but the drive was so successful, that they surpassed that number, collecting 42,666 meals for family in need. The drive ran from July 1st, through September 16th.
“The number of hungry families on Long Island is still at a high due to the COVID pandemic and other issues,” Legislator Giuffré said. “Island Harvest and PSEG Long Island have done great work trying to mitigate hunger and make sure no family goes without food. Their efforts have led to not just a successful food drive, but a massively successfully one that has gone above and beyond their stated goals. Great job all involved!”
