Mineola, NY—Nassau County Executive Laura Curran joined with Commissioner of Police Patrick Ryder to announce that 54 members of Nassau County Police Explorers Drill Team traveled to West Lafayette, Indiana, to compete in the National Law Enforcement Exploring Competition, where Team Nassau brought back eleven awards including one Police Explorer being selected as the National Vice Youth Representative for the entire United States.
Team Nassau spent a week competing in twelve different Police Disciplines in both team and individual events. The results are as follows:
National Vice Youth Representative Gisselle Lugo 1st Place – Drill Team Competition – Post 7000, 1st Place – Bomb Threat – Post 1000, 1st Place – Exploring USA, Crime Prevention – Post 1000, 1st Place – Police Physical Fitness, female, age 17+ - Alyssa Burgois, 2nd Place – Exploring USA, Post Development – Post 1490, 2nd Place – Traffic Accident Investigation – Post 4000, 3rd Place—Police Physical Fitness, male, age 17+ - Mark Franolich, 4th Place – Crime Scene Search – Post 7000, 5th Place – Officer Down – Post 1000, 10th Place – 9mm Individual Competition – Kyle Larkin.
