“New Yorkers deserve a fair and efficient criminal justice system that protects victims and respects the rights of every defendant. I was proud to work with the District Attorney’s Association, the Innocence Project, and our criminal justice partners to develop legislation to strengthen photo identification procedures and to require videotaped interrogations in serious cases. I applaud Governor Cuomo for prioritizing this legislation, and for his commitment to reform the criminal justice system for non-violent 16 and 17 year-olds, and I encourage the Legislature to pass these important bills in short order.”
