Mangano, Curran & Muscarella Announce Community Clean-up Day at Halls Pond Park in West Hempstead
West Hempstead, NY – Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano, State Assemblyman Brian Curran and County Legislator Vincent Muscarella today announced a Community Clean-Up Day will take place on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Halls Pond Park in West Hempstead from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. Volunteers should meet at the gazebo at Halls Pond Park.
“There is no better example of neighborhood spirit than when a group of residents gather together and volunteer their time to better their community,” said County Executive Mangano. “Working together they will make an immediate impact on this beautiful preserve and foster a sense of community pride.”
Assemblyman Brian Curran stated, “Continuing the tradition of celebrating Earth Day, I am honored to partner with Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and Legislator Vincent Muscarella for our annual park clean-ups. Keeping our West Hempstead parks beautiful and preserved benefits the entire community. ,Our parks are one of our most important natural resources and are truly the corner stone of any community, we must protect them and keep them thriving.”

About Halls Pond Park
Centrally located in West Hempstead on Nassau Boulevard and Hempstead Avenue, this 11-acre park includes a 5.5-acre pond with a walkway and a wooded area on its north side. Hall's Pond is a popular local setting for quiet walks and community activities. The park is one of several County properties that were originally designed for drainage purposes and were later turned into public parks. Hall's Pond is made up of three contiguous parcels of land acquired by the County between 1956 and 1970.
