(GLEN COVE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) joined her partners in government and the community on Veterans Day to celebrate the completion of upgrades to the City’s veterans memorial outside First Presbyterian Church.
The upgrade, which was the vision of local Scout Genalie Prezali and funded with a $75,000 Nassau County Community Revitalization Project (CRP) grant secured by Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton’s office, added a large bold star as the focal point of the monument, a decorative concrete walkway to help visitors traverse the site safely, benches, and refreshed shrubbery.
“I have always been so impressed with Genalie – he is a smart, caring and patient young man who cares deeply for our community and especially our veterans,” Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton said. “It was a privilege to congratulate him upon the completion of his Eagle Scout project, one which created a safe and sacred space for all of us to honor our veterans throughout the year.”
