Nassau County Legislator Steve Rhoads recently helped deliver a cache of toys to children from the pediatric wing at Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC).  The toys were collected and donated through the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.  Legislator Rhoads is a vice chairman in this year’s campaign, which kicked off last month.
“There’s no greater joy than bringing a smile to the face of a child when they receive a brand-new unwrapped toy,” Legislator Rhoads said “I am honored to serve as a vice chair in this year’s Toys for Tots campaign and look forward to both helping to collect and deliver toys to local children this holiday season.  Today was the first of many stops that will be made throughout Nassau County.”
The USMCR’s Toys for Tots program was established in 1947 to help bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to less fortunate children throughout America through the gift of a new toy. Here on Long Island, tens of thousands of toys are collected and distributed to children every year.
